Each summer we dedicate time for you to visit with representatives, professors and present students from our educational departments to be raised to speed in the new and exciting things occurring on campus.

We began our quest for information during the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism where we were greeted with both gourmet snacks (our colleagues at Annenberg know we now have a sweet enamel) and a presentation about a few of the amazing opportunities Annenberg pupils had over the past year. We had been particularly impressed to learn that 21 of our Journalism pupils had the opportunity to intern during the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

Our next stop was the USC Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences where we came across with Vice Dean Steve Lamy who spoke about problem-based learning opportunities like Problems without Passports and Maymester, plus the wide range of undergraduate research opportunities. It absolutely was exciting to listen to about Dr. Lamy’s dilemmas without Passports trip to the Arctic. He took a team of 18 USC students, including nine freshmen, to master more about the spot and the effects of global warming. The trip began in Stockholm where students studied comfort research, met with the chair for the Arctic Council, the Russian Ambassador of Sweden after which with Green Peace Ambassadors. The trip finished in St. Petersburg where they spent the Fourth of July in the Gulf of Finland ending up in top experts. Just What an opportunity!

Our visit towards the Viterbi class of Engineering included a student panel that is impressive. We came across a student that has dedicated his time that is spare to in the USC Rocket Propulsion Lab. The ultimate goal of the Rocket Propulsion Lab is to be initial band of university students to launch a rocket into space, and additionally they are getting pretty close! The lab is open to ALL USC students, not just to students studying engineering in true USC fashion.

Over this past summer, our campus experienced many updates like the addition of another dining hall that is traditional. Kinds of Highschool Visits

We admission officers are presently into the thick of what we call travel season. We’re busy visiting prospective students at high schools across the country. A normal high school visit comprises of providing information about USC where we’re found, what kinds of educational programs we provide, what campus life is love and also includes information concerning the admission procedure and application.

This really is my 4th travel season, which means I’ve encountered many kinds of high college visits. Each visit includes a slightly altered format and also the period of time for a call can vary, as well. One kind of senior school visit occurs whenever we now have a class that is entire to talk with prospective pupils. These often take place in a classroom or in the guidance office conference room or lobby area. Typically, we have more than enough time to talk about USC and answer any questions that come up.

Another kind of visit we see does occur during a school’s meal duration. Often we will sit in the meal room area, while in other cases we possibly may be situated in a hallway outside of where pupils are eating therefore that students can come grab a brochure once they have a chance. This is really a opportunity that is great schools that aren’t in a position to let pupils miss class to talk to college admission officers.

The set-up that is mini-fair a common sort of visit during which multiple colleges attend the same highschool at the exact same time so pupils can see a variety of schools to check out the similarities and differences between universities. Although students have the ability to speak with various university representatives, there is perhaps not frequently time to hear a full presentation about any one university.

Each school that is high a unique forum for students to learn about college possibilities. While we have specific topics to talk about, we do give students the possibility to ask any specific concerns they may be curious about. Before a USC agent comes to visit your school, you might invest some right time thinking by what you are looking for in a college and come prepared with specific concerns which could assist guide your college search.
